Today's post finds me quite busy and unable to develop the subject as I would like. So many things to do, and so many things I could write and show, given that this is my thing, after all I'm a geologist.
I don't lack for sure good photos of minerals, but not too many in my hands now. So I'll leave you with some not so good photos of rocks (and minerals, of course) as they appear under a polarising light microscope in thin section: a world of colors, forms and wonder I adore to explore and read (yes, dear friends, part of my job is understanding what is the story that rocks tell, and they can be very talkative once you know how to interpret them!).

you can whisper into mine ear about rocks'n'things any time of the week! those colours are simply amazing. what stories would all of these minerals have to tell, if only they had speech! you have an exciting job, i think.

Woah, what an explosion of colours and patterns! Obviously this is YOUR theme and I'd love to get some translation of what the minerals whisper in your ear... ;o)
Gorgeous! I didn't know you were a geologist!
These are incredible! I didn't know your educational background either. This is such an interesting group!
Amazing! These images look like paintings. Thank you for sharing!
it's a fascinating field that I've only discovered through my boys schooling - we didn't use to learn anything about geology at all back in *prehistory*!:)
beautiful photos, and I love what you write about rocks being talkative - if you know how to interpret them!
THESE ARE STUNNING ! I am impressed !
Gorgeous colors! You've given us an entirely new way of looking at minerals--thank you so much!
And I thought rocks were grey ;) Wonderful images!
