A year in knitting

So it is march, and I haven't done my usual summary of the knitting of last year! I cannot believe it, time is flying, it's march! And this knitting blog is really not very knitting any more. So here we go, 2013 was a good year!

I didn't manage to knit 12 shawls in a year, but I did 10, which was quite good, and they were all well received!

I made my first steeking, and I am pleased I did.

I managed to knit three jumper, one for my niece, one for my brother and one for myself!

I finished two baby cardigans, one of which took me 5 years to complete… Well, that's off, finally!

I made a summery shirt in cotton for myself

I managed to knit 13 hats, a bit more than one each month

I'm quite pleased with what I did, and have grand plans for 2014, so stay tuned!

Bottle caps curtain - update

As some of you three readers know, I have had this beautiful, useful and entertaining project for years now: making a bottle caps curtain. The collection of the caps is progressing, and gives me a huge number of chatting opportunities and I made new friends through it!

I have even started to make the holes in the caps, after much mulling and tool using!

A colleague calculated the required number of caps, but I have promptly forgotten it, and keep merrily going on without worrying.

At least I have made a test to see if it works....

It still needs some improvements, but we are getting there! Much more soon....

a.b. 17 - the month of finishing!

During this August I decided to finish several things that were hanging there, sometimes for years like this one.
I feel so well finishing things, it's like lifting away a little burden..... And this one was a special one, as it had made it in my life list!

By the way, it wasn't much work, and it really is beautiful. And now it is already with its owner, who has been waiting for SO long. Thanks for the patience, mum!!!!

Oropa

Last week, while working in the field with students, we stayed a couple of nights at the Oropa sanctuary.

It's a huge, beautiful building up in the mountains. And it is part of the UNESCO sites (so this post qualify also for my life list! See in the bar above!).

on the first morning, before leaving to the mountains, I had the time to take some pictures

Life List - 81.

Sometimes ago, I wrote my Life List, and there is a dedicated page about it on this blog (have a look up there, on the top bar, on the right!).

This post is to document number "81" of the list, which was all about showing a rice field to P, who had once confessed me he had never seen one from nearby (and, I will add, we live in a region FULL of rice fields!).

So at the beginning of october we were heading to visit the Maggiore Lake when I stopped along the road

IMG_7065

What are you doing? - was the question. I got off the car and smiled: We are finally going to see a rice filed from within, and get some rice as well!

And so we did, and jiggled all the rest of the trip!
