the forgotten shawl

This is another piece I finished sometimes ago. Then I was trapped by too many things happening and never blogged about it.
So here it is, my first completed shawl for 2011. If I continue at this speed the challange of 11 shawls in 2011 is going to be tough!

The pattern is Josephine Shawl by Susan Gutperl (another free pattern on Ravelry) and it is an easy all garter shawl. I really had fun knitting this, no much thinking and all relax, a real win for this period.

I have now fallen into striped garter shawls, so be ready, you are advised!

and the knitting continues!

So, here we are with another hat!

I'm quite pleased with it, it was fun start to end, especially going to buy the button!

The pattern is "The republic hat" by Nicole Reeves (free on Ravelry), easy but interesting.

The garter band is worked flat, then the rest of the hat is knitted in the round. Final touch is the button, and voilĂ , a nice hat is finished!

finally some knitting

Lately, with all this work, and travelling, and being away, I haven't written much about nitting. Of course, clickety clicking has been undergoning all time, I simply never blogged about it.

So let's get back to good habits, and here is a recent F.O. It's a hat for P, the wool, Morris Estate 8ply was purchased at Morris and sons in Melbourne, and chosen specifically by P for the color and softness. It is a deep red, and I love it!

The model is a simple watchcap, how else could a portable hat be, after all? So I obliged, and followed the clear instructions for a Classic Watch Cap in the Hats on! book by Charlene Schurch. Now of course, I'd like to knit also all the other hats from the book, and who knows, maybe with time....

There are several projects that are already completed or on the way to be completed soon, so I shall post soon about them!

A little tour with great friends - part I

Well, yes, I have been missing a bit from this space, but a time of reflections, decisions and action is happening right now.
There has been a bit of travelling and much working as well, and knitting too! Soon news finished objects to come....

But right now, come with me and my friends for a brief trip:

But it is time for leaving

ready to go, and a hat

I cannot believe time has been literally flying these last weeks, with the preparations, lots of things at work, a bit of family worries and the unravelling course... All this made me have really little time for anything ese. But I'm quite happy as well, and know I have a bit of more "me time" ahead.

Knit-wise i have finished a hat for P

IMG_3007

a really nice and simple pattern "Christopher by Jane Richmond" (Ravelry link), that I bought sometimes ago for its stripines and the fact that it is double-sided

IMG_3022

The wool was chosen and more length added, and in the end it came out quite well. Unfortunately it looked awful on the owner, so I frogged and made another, more comfortable hat wih the blue wool.

Anyhow I plan to make more of these hats, and with stripes!, as it is an easy and really nice knit!

lucky girl

Today I found a mail in my box in Ravelry.

I'm the lucky winner of a pattern in a draw from the group 10 shawls in 2010....

:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Ah, by the way, the color of the year 2011 is red-orange for me!
(thanks to Susannah Conway for the suggestion)

My word of the year is Change

Change - noun
1. the act or instance of making or becoming different
2. coins as opposed to paper currency
3. an order in which a peal of bells can be rung
4. a place where merchants met to do business
(from Oxford dictionary)

starting the new year

This year I have joined the unravelling e-course by Susannah Canway.
I am thrilled and looking forward to start this adventure.
